South Petherton Combined Arts Choir was formed in 1947 and draws its membership from South Petherton and the surrounding towns and villages. As its name suggests, it is part of South Petherton Combined Arts Society, but in all other respects it is a typical Choral Society. It has a membership of approximately 55 singers and gives 2 concerts each year, at Christmas and in the Spring. The Spring concert is given with professional soloists and orchestra.
The Choir’s repertoire extends from the music of the Baroque through to the present day, including a carol commissioned in 2002 from Colin Matthews.
We rehearse on Thursday evenings at South Petherton Junior School from 7:30pm to 9:15pm, September to April. This Season starts on Thursday 1st September.
